Second suspect charged with assisting an offender after man found dead in Gun Lane, Strood

A suspect has been charged with assisting an offender after a man was found dead in a block of flats.
Police were called to Gun Lane in Strood at around 12.30am on Friday, July 26 where officers found the body of a man in his 60s.
A woman, named Nina Mercer, was charged on suspicion of murder on July 29.
Now, a second suspect has been charged in connection with the death of the man named in court documents as Alan Tomkins.
Lee Robinson, of Frindsbury Road, Strood, was detained on July 31 after search warrants were carried out in connection with the investigation and on August 3 he was charged.
The 44-year-old was additionally charged on suspicion of theft and fraud.
He appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 5, where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on September 2.
Two further men, aged 38 and 33, were also arrested and subsequently released on bail until 28 and 29 October respectively.
Mercer, 42, of Gun Lane, Strood, who was previously charged with murder remains on remand. She has a trial date fixed for February 10, 2025.
