The opening of an inquest has heard how police discovered an elderly woman's "skeletal remains" when called to her home.
The body of Nigerian-born Omolara Soremekun, 89, was found at the property in Birch Grove Hempstead on Saturday, February 1.
A post-mortem investigation showed the cause of death as "unascertained", the hearing at Archbishop's Palace, Maidstone, was told this morning.
Sonia Hayes, Mid Kent and Medway assistant coroner, adjourned a full inquest until June 1.
Following the discovery, another woman was detained under the Mental Health Act and is currently under the care of medical professionals.
It is not yet known how old the detained person is and what the relationship between the two women is.
It is believed Ms Soremekun had lived at the address for more than 10 years.
Neighbours said they had not seen her recently and a car had remained on the drive of the semi-detached property for months.
