A town centre road was closed due to concerns for a person's welfare near a shopping centre.
The Brook in Chatham was shut this evening in both directions near The Pentagon Shopping Centre from King Street to Whiffens Avenue, with officers turning vehicles around.
A spokesman for the shopping centre confirmed the road was closed but could not give any further information.
Firefighters were also called to the scene just before 7pm to assist officers.
One fire engine attended and the crews left just after 8pm.
As of 8.40pm, the road had been reopened.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 6pm to concerns for the welfare of a person in The Brook, Chatham. Officers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene where the road was closed to traffic. The person was later passed into the care of health professionals and the road reopened at around 8.15pm."
