Man in custody after police officer spat at and person threatened with baton in Strood

A man is in custody after a police officer was spat at and a member of the public threatened with a baton.
Police were called to reports of a man being verbally abusive while possessing a baton in Strood on Saturday at around 1pm.
Jamie Pymm was arrested and is reported to have spat at one of the officers.
The 47-year-old, of no fixed address, was later charged with assaulting an emergency worker, carrying an offensive weapon in public and resisting arrest.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
