A popular restaurant set in an historic Tudor building has gone up for sale.

Elizabeth's Restaurant - which specialises in modern European cuisine - has been open for 27 years in Rochester High Street.

The owners, Manuel and Cristina Mouzo, have ran the restaurant with their son and team of staff after moving here from Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain.

The establishment is located in Eastgate - a popular area for tourists visiting the town - and housed in a building dating back to the 16th century.

It has classical features such as restored beams, exposed brickwork and historic designs.

They also ran top restaurants in Surrey and Hampshire before settling in Kent with Elizabeth's gaining a fantastic reputation.

James Hughes, senior business agent at Christie & Co who are selling the restaurant, said: "Rochester is a great location for a restaurant due to its history and tourism, as well the abundance of housing developments going on in the local area. I expect to see significant interest in the business.”

Elizabeth’s Restaurant is on the market at an asking price of £75,000 for the leasehold interest.

It is the latest of two landmark buildings to hit the market in Rochester within as many weeks.

Last week, KentOnline revealed the Boley Hill House will be sold with an asking price of more than £1.5 million.
