More than 600 businesses and homes in and around Chatham High Street were left without electricity this afternoon.
Just over 220 customers had power restored within 50 minutes of the interruption at 12.25pm.
But another 390 customers are still without electricity and a spokeswoman for EDF said engineers are currently working to restore power.
The fault is believed to have stemmed from a fault on an underground cable.
The EDF spokeswoman added: "We appreciate how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience."
