A pub has temporarily closed for extensive renovations.
The Old Ash Tree pub in Rainham Road, Chatham, will be shut for six weeks.
The boozer, owned by Greene King, serves locally brewed real ales and the company’s Flaming Grill menu.
A message was posted on their Facebook page on Monday, September 4.
It said: “Just to say goodbye from us here – Team Old Ash Tree would like to say a massive thank you to all of our guests for your custom, support and most of all the laughs and friendships that we have all built over the last few years.
“We wish you all well.”
Three days later another message appeared, which addressed the closure.
It told customers that this was only temporary and will involve a four-week refurbishment.
“Myself Grant, wife Lilly and our two sons will be taking over and opening the doors once again on Thursday, October 19,” it went on to say.
“I'm sure you will be amazed and love the new look and feel of the pub you all enjoy so much.
“We look forward to welcoming you all very soon.
“Please keep an eye on the page for upcoming events and an exciting launch day.”
It will also become a Hive Pub, which is a franchise concept by Greene King Pub Partners.
Each site that signs up will receive an “internal and external investment of up to £300k”.
They will be run by franchisees who have local knowledge and previous experience.
A spokesman from Greene King said: “Plans are under way for a full refurbishment of the Old Ash Tree, both inside and out.
“We’re looking forward to opening this great community pub in autumn as a Hive Pubs Franchise – with classic pub food, an excellent drinks range, entertainment and live sport.”
