Medway Messenger readers have selected a name for Rainham's newest Wetherspoons
12:00, 27 October 2017
Rainham’s new Wetherspoons has a name, as selected by our readers.
The pub will retain its most recent name, The Railway.
The Railway Hotel was the selection most voted for, beating other options The Temperance Hotel, The Sayer’s Arms and The Solomon Brice with a whopping 56% of the online vote and 60% of emailed votes.
JD Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said:
“We are thrilled that so many readers responded to the story in the Medway Messenger about the name of the new Wetherspoon pub to open in Rainham.”
The Railway Hotel was the overwhelming winner, although feedback suggested that ‘hotel’ was not necessary at the end.
Mr Martin said: “The new pub will not have a hotel, and therefore we believe the name, The Railway, is the perfect name.
“We look forward to The Railway opening in the town and again thank readers of the Messenger for choosing the pub’s new name.”
