A restaurant closed down due to the coronavirus outbreak has turned its focus on helping the community eat in other ways.

Rico Sabor, in Rochester High Street, is selling staples including pasta, eggs, tomatoes, bread and tinned goods.

Its owner Julian Ramirez has been up into the early hours sourcing the products from his suppliers to ensure the produce can be sold on to those in need.

The Latin American and Spanish restaurant transformed into a shop on Friday and is due to stay open while they can maintain supply lines with their wholesalers.

Julian's wife Marcella said: "We are working with suppliers to order more stock to sell it to the community.

"We have had such a big response from the community; we have had people thanking us, sharing their stories with us."
