It started as an eight-week project, to test the wits of Medway’s residents but now over three years later, Escape Plan Live is more popular than ever and we sent a team of reporters to try out the brand new game called The Witching Hour.

Based at their new venue Sun Pier House in Chatham, The Witching Hour throws players into the scene of haunted woods where they have planned to stay for the weekend but the weather has turned horrible and stormy.

It is so freezing cold you decide its time to leave and head home.

But you are stuck, compasses have stopped working, phones have no signal and all of your watches have stopped at 3.33am.

Your team starts setting off and you find an old creepy cabin, you decide to head inside to shelter from the storm, but the door slams shut and you are trapped inside. The door opens and players enter a pitch black room, with lightning flashing through an eerie window and just a few torches set out on a wooden table. This is when the countdown begins.

Teams have just one hour to figure their way out by searching for clues to solve puzzles, which eventually lead to finding the key to open the door and escape.

The clues prove testing, with many taking a lot of thought and detective skills, but don’t worry if you get stuck and need a little help in the right direction there is an intercom that allows you request up to three clues.

The hour-long session is a lot of fun and great for team building exercises, family fun or as a competition against friends. The tense atmosphere can be stressful and there are definitely a few spooky jumps along the way, but it is a fantastic experience that is sure to keep your mind spinning.

Ross Friday and his wife Sandra created the attraction as part of an eight-week project but decided to keep it running after it became so popular.

There are a variety of games that can be played including The Seance, Body Parts, Hostage Rescue and Christmas special The Naughty List. Murder on the Pier is family friendly so it is something all ages could enjoy over the half-term break.
