09:45, 23 December 2002
FLOOD alerts are in force across Kent after a weekend of heavy rain.
The Government's Environment Agency has issued flood warnings on the River Medway between Forest Row and Penshurst and between Penshurst and the Leigh Barrier.
A flood warning is also in force on the River Beult from Pluckley and Bethersden to Yalding.
The agency issues flood warnings when flooding is expected, affecting homes, businesses and main roads.
Flooding is also possible on the Medway around Tonbridge, the River Bourne between Hadlow and East Peckham and the River Great Stour between Ashford and Fordwich.
These areas are on the agency's Flood Watch alert.
