A police spokesman said: "It is reported that a woman was inappropriately touched as she walked alongside the river in the area of Copperhouse Lane just before 9am on Tuesday, August 12.

"The suspect is a white man, aged 20 to 30, 5ft 8in and of proportionate build.

"He was described as wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms with a dark stripe."

One female dog walker who uses the park, but did not want to be named, said: "I heard from a fellow dog walkers at the park earlier this week that a woman was molested by a man outside concrete walkway near Sharps Green.

"A number of us ladies walk on our own round there with our dogs, including me, and I never know how the dogs would react in such a situation, but hopefully positively."

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone PC Hayley Chilmaid on 01634 792421, quoting crime reference XY/028680/14.
