A witnesses said the road was blocked by the nearby Kwik Fit in Gun Lane.

This is not the first time a vehicle has struck the bridge and blocked the street between Stanhope Road and Gun Lane.

Earlier this year a van's roof racking jammed the vehicle under the structure and in 2021 a similar incident occurred with the lorry's roof being ripped back.

Police and the fire service said they were not called to assist.
