A series of road closures are causing traffic chaos for drivers in a town centre.
KentOnline has rounded up what roads you’ll want to avoid in Strood.
Station Road
Due to emergency gas works, part of Station Road was shut at 11am on Wednesday, September 13.
The right-hand turn into Station Road from Commercial Road is what has been closed and is causing traffic to queue back to Rochester railway station during rush hours.
SGN has permission to work on the road until 11.59pm on Wednesday, September 20.
The road is now only open for emergency services until the end of the works.
The diversion route takes drivers from Commercial Road onto the High Street one-way system and then North Street.
Frindsbury Hill
Temporary traffic lights have been installed on Frindsbury Hill.
The two-way signals were put in place to control traffic on the A228 by Southern Water for “utility repair and maintenance works”.
After going up at 8am on Thursday, September 14 the lights are set to be in place until 11.59pm on Wednesday, September 20.
Bridge repair works at Junction 2 for the A228 Sundridge Hill have seen the London-bound exit slip lane closed since Tuesday, September 12.
Traffic has been heavy since the closure with tailbacks being reported daily.
It was hoped the works to fix sections of the bridge joint on the Medway Viaduct would have been completed overnight on Tuesday.
The works were initially delayed by another night as the correct parts were not delivered in time.
However, National Highways says the closure may continue late into next week.
A228 Four Elms Hill
To finish on some good news the works in Four Elms Hill are due to be completed tomorrow night (Saturday).
One lane headed south-bound has been shut since August 7 for the last four weeks.
Medway Highway bosses apologised for the delays after extending roadworks for an extra two weeks.
However, the road is set to open from 11.59pm tomorrow (September 16).
