As the Towns’ streets prepare to turn red, white and blue for King Charles III’s coronation this weekend, motorists are being reminded about incoming road closures.

Medway Council has revealed there will be 30 street parties over the bank holiday weekend, meaning your usual routes may be compromised.

People in Chatham will feel the closures the most, with eight roads being shut in total.

Seven will be shut in Rainham, with a further six in Rochester and a further four each in Strood and Gillingham.

Medway Council’s assistant director of culture and community Dee O’Rourke said: “The Coronation is a historic moment for the whole country.

“I’m delighted that there are a whole host of events being held across Medway to mark this significant occasion.

“Whether you’re attending one of the events we have set up, going along to one of the street parties or hosting your own event with friends and family, we hope everyone has an amazing Coronation weekend.”
