The opening ceremony of the World Cup is a pretty big gig - but does it really compare to The Avenue in Gillingham?

Of course not, which is probably why X Factor judge and former Take That star took to Instagram yesterday to post a picture reminiscing about the heady days when he and his band mates could draw a small club full of teenagers willing to hand over the hefty price of £3 a ticket.

Robbie's post shows an old concert poster advertising the gig at the venue in Featherby Road in 1991, proclaiming "Teenage rave every Tuesday for 14-17 year olds. Take That, The UK's answer to 'New Kids' appearing here live on Tuesday 29th October 1991.

"Admission £3 with a ticket, £3.50 without."

And Robbie's not the only one who misses those days. The post jogged the memories of many online followers, including holl0708, who wrote "Omg I went to this. Houses now. Loved the ‘Ave’. Best years of my life."

The.mcda.allstars added: "I remember that night well. U were at the back bar and me and my friends were right at the front. I also remember the hand out flyers with ur fan club details on and getting home and writing to you all. I only have one arm and specifically mentioned that fact to get a reply so I could brag to my buddies....... How funny!!!! Was a great night had by all and you guys were awesome xxxxx"(sic)

Beccamarie posted: "Sadly the Avenue is no more but what a great venue that was!" While r8chy78 added: "Three quid. And a bottle of 20/20. Oh what a night that would have been."

Happy memories indeed.

Do you remember the night Take That played at the Avenue? Or did you drink too much 20/20?
