Medway rugby coach Martin Coyd named in Queen's honours list

Martin Coyd, top Medway rugby coach and manager of the England Wheelchair Rugby League Team has been made an OBE in the New Year's honours list.

Mr Coyd, who oversaw the Wheelchair Rugby World Cup at Medway Park this year, has been recognised for his services to the sport.

It was the first time the tournament has ever been held in the UK and his son Joe Cody a leading player in the Medway Dragons which his father formed, was in the team.

International dance DJ Pete Tong, a former King's School, Rochester pupil has been made an MBE for his services to broadcasting and music.

He was a student at the public school from 1969 to 1978.

Tong, who was born in the Gravesend area, has played at clubs across Kent and has supported local charities, including the Ellenor Lions Hospice.

Rainham man Jeffrey Mitchell, former head of Common Law Claims and Policy at Ministry of Defence, has received a CBE for for services to defence.
