Pupils have been off school since Wednesday after two trees were deemed dangerous and in need of urgent removal.
After a routine tree survey, Park Wood School, in Deanwood Drive, Rainham, were told two trees at the front of the school needed to be removed.
Head teacher Alex Moir decided the safest course of action would be to send all the children and staff home.
In a letter sent home to parents Mr Moir said: "To allow the urgent removal of the trees to take place as well as the necessary plant and machinery this will involve to access the site, and to minimise the alarm which might be caused in the unlikely event a tree were to come down, we have chosen to send the children home.
"When considering different options, as head, I will always choose the one which puts safety and sometimes the difficult decision first, rather than the easy or popular one."
According to the letter the majority of parents were quick to collect their children and have been supportive of the decision.
The children have now returned to school.
Medway Messenger contacted the school for a comment but no one was available at this time.
