A schoolgirl has become a boredom breaker sensation after setting up a Facebook page to keep children entertained during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bethany Puplett, an 11-year-old pupil at Park Wood Junior School in Rainham, created the group two weeks ago and already has 500 members.

With the help of her mum, Amanda, and dad, Mark, Bethany – from Gillingham – set up Coronavirus Boredom Breakers as she wanted to help and entertain other kids, like herself, who weren't able to go to school anymore.

Coronavirus Boredom Breakers is a private group that has members from all over the globe, from America to Australia.

Amanda, a teaching assistant at the infant section of Park Wood School said: "It was all her idea, she was bored and wanted to occupy herself.

"Bethany created the group and it started of with just a few of her friends, but it soon became friends of friends and before we knew it we had 500 members from all over the place.

"We were surprised to see how well this has taken off."

The Year 6 pupil thought of all the popular activities herself, she entertains her viewers with live slime and cake making, drawing competitions, live quizzes, a show your pet day and has even roped in her mum to read stories live to viewers.

Bethany said: "The Facebook page is really fun and interesting to be a part of.

"I'm very thankful for everyone who is joining."

So far Bethany's page has an audience of children aged nine onwards, however, parents of younger tots have also joined the group.

Amanda said: "The page just exploded all of a sudden.

"It's hard for the kids, being off school during these strange times, but Bethany just want's to do her bit to help."
