The emergency services closed a road after a person was seen on the roof of a building.
Police officers, paramedics, and firefighters were called to the High Street, in Strood, near Rochester Bridge.
The precise details of the incident are not known, however, it is thought a person was on the roof of a business.
A nearby businessman said his staff told him a person was “walking around” on top of the shop while police officers attempted to talk to them.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called at around 3.45pm this afternoon (August 6) to assist the police and paramedics and its crews had left the scene just before 5pm.
Paramedics were called around 3.30pm to reports of a person in need of medical attention.
They assessed and treated the person at the scene, before taking them to Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical care.
Police were present after being called at 3.20pm following concerns for the welfare of a man seen on the roof of a building.
Part of the road was closed while a police cordon was in place, but this has since been reopened.
Speaking earlier, one witness said: "They are stopping people going from Strood to Rochester so the traffic coming the other way can be turned around at the traffic lights.
“They are keeping people moving as best they can."
It is understood there was no Arriva services towards Strood from Chatham for a short while.
