Young man arrested after 36-year-old stabbed in stomach in Strood

A man suffered a stab wound to his stomach after an alleged assault in Strood yesterday.

The 36-year-old was injured in an incident at a house in Mayfair, just off Bill Street Road, in Frindsbury.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Emergency services, including the Kent Air Ambulance and police, were called to the scene at about 2.35pm.

However, after being assessed the injured man was taken to King's College Hospital, in London, via land ambulance accompanied by the helicopter crew.

He is understood to have suffered two stab wounds to the kidney area.

A police spokesman said: "A man was taken to a London hospital with injuries described as puncture wounds.

"A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been bailed until April 2."
