Man charged after robbery at McDonald's in Strood

A man is due to appear in court following a robbery at McDonald's in Strood.
Police say a man threatened and assaulted a staff member before stealing £95 from a till, after entering the outlet in Commercial Road.
The incident happened just after midnight on Tuesday, August 16.
An investigation was launched by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad and on the following day a man was arrested.
On Thursday, August 18, Ryan Cooney, of Hilltop Road, Strood was charged with robbery.
He was also charged with a second count of robbery when, at around 2am on Sunday, August 14, it is alleged he stole a woman’s handbag as she was walking in Commercial Road.
The 34-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday. August 19.
He didn’t enter a plea but was remanded in custody by the court.
His next hearing is at Maidstone Crown on September 16.
