Shoe shop’s closure news shocks staff in Strood as Brantano Footwear goes into administration
00:01, 29 January 2016
Another store at Strood Retail Park is set to close after Brantano Footwear went into administration.
The shop, which sells branded shoes and boots at discount prices, will close after its current stock has been sold.
The store is displaying clearance and closing down banners but a date for its closure has not been revealed.
It is not known how many jobs will be lost.
One worker, who didn’t want to be named, said: “We were told last Thursday and the banners and closing down signs turned up the next day.
“It has come a complete shock for us and we don’t know the closing date yet, but think it will be in a couple of weeks.”
Earlier this month, B&Q moved out of the Commercial Road park and the building is being redeveloped and split into separate units.
