University students who crammed into a lift had to be rescued after it got stuck early today.
Firefighters were called to the University of Kent's accommodation complex Liberty Quays, in Pier Road, Gillingham, after students returning from a night out overloaded the lift.
Signs advise only six people should use an elevator at once, but 11 people had crammed into one, causing it to break.
Crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called at about 1am.
A spokesman said: "We switched of the main power and had to manually open the doors."
Firefighters were on the scene for 20 minutes.
