The victim, aged 29, was taken to a London hospital. Police have been told his injuries are not life threatening or life changing.
Later on Thursday, a second address in Wiltshire Close on the Princes Park estate was cordoned off as part of the investigation.
Mum-of-two, Belinda Blake, 43, who lives in adjoining Berkshire Close, said she had seen a forensics van, sniffer dogs, and several police vans.
She said: "I took my kids to school at 7.30am and didn't see anything.
"When I got back, it was all kicking off. There were more police officers here than Scotland Yard.
"I've lived here for nine years and I've never seen anything like it. It's normally very quiet here.
"My neighbour said it started in Wiltshire Close about 5.30am. Police then moved about 7.30 into Devon Close and at 9am they closed off Wiltshire."
