Specialist teams were needed to tackle a grass fire which had spread across 10 acres of land.
Firefighters spent three hours dousing the flames off West Lane, Grain, yesterday evening.
Crews were first called to the scene at 5pm.
The remote location meant they did not have a water supply so a 4x4 and an all-terrain vehicle from Dartford, which both carry pressurised water systems, and a water unit from Larkfield attended, along with a crew from Strood station.
The MOD-owned field is used by a farmer but contained only tall grass.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “The fire spread over an area measuring about 10 acres. The cause is unknown.
“We left the scene at 8.15pm.”
