Gillingham teen arrested after Chatham police chase leads to machete discovery

A teen has been arrested after a police chase led to the discovery of a machete.
Patrolling officers seized a knife after a man was seen acting suspiciously in Chatham.
The local patrol was near the town centre on Friday, July 12, when they saw three men who were known to them.
As the officers approached the trio, they all ran from the area.
The officers gave chase on foot and one man was detained near Chatham Bus Station.
A machete was seized as part of the response and a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of knife offences.
Following inquiries, Shane Parker, 18, of Freesia Close, Gillingham, was charged with possession of a bladed object in a public place.
He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 13, where he was bailed with conditions.
He is due back at the court on Thursday, October 10.
