A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pensioner was killed at a stud farm in the Towns.
Detectives investigating the death of the 70 year-old man say they arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder earlier this morning.
Officers were called out to Capstone Stud Farm, in Capstone Road, Gillingham, just after 11am Tuesday, November 22, where they found the pensioner, known locally as Trevor, with head injuries.
Paramedics confirmed the 70-year-old man was dead, and police revealed he was found in the caravan where he lived on site.
The man is understood to have helped look after the horses and had worked there for eight or nine years.
A horse owner who rents one of the stables at the farm and who did not want to be named, said: “We weren’t allowed to go on site on Tuesday because the police prevented us from going on."
Police remained at the scene for several days and were spotted searching a field and a neighbouring property off Capstone Road.
A post-mortem examination was carried out earlier this week, but further tests are needed to establish the cause of death.
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are handling the investigation.
A spokesman for Kent Police said this morning: “Detectives arrested a 17 year-old man from Sheerness on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.”
