A teenager has appeared in court after a man was stabbed in the neck at the weekend, narrowly missing an important artery.
Idan Shahi, of no fixed abode, was joined at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning by an interpreter as he faced a charge of grievous bodily harm.
He spoke only to confirm his name, age and nationality as Afghani.
The 19-year-old faced three charges after being arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning, including GBH, and possessing a knife and cannabis.
It comes after CCTV captured the moment a man was stabbed in the neck with a knife after an argument in High Street, Gillingham, at around 1am.
The court heard how the blade narrowly missed the victim's artery and had it made contact, Shahi could have been facing an attempted murder charge.
Defending, David Sadeh, applied for bail arguing that Shahi was only 19-years-old and claims the man pictured on footage is not him and it is a case of mistaken identity.
Bail was refused and the defendant is set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, July 22 for these offences.
