Machete attack in Rock Avenue, in Gillingham sees boy suffer wound and spend the night in Medway Maritime Hospital

A sixteen-year-old boy suffered a deep wound to his head after apparently being attacked with a machete.
The teenager, who has not been named, also suffered cuts to his ears during the attack which happened in Rock Avenue, in Gillingham at about 1am on Saturday.
The boy was taken to nearby Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment and was able to go home the following day.
Police were called to the area and are investigating the incident but at this stage have not made any arrests.
A spokeswoman for police in Medway said: “Police are investigating following an assault in Gillingham.
“The incident occurred between 1am and 1.10am in Rock Avenue, Gillingham.
“It is reported that a 16-year-old boy suffered cuts to his head and ears after being assaulted with a bladed instrument.
“Inquiries are ongoing at this stage.”
