00:01, 03 March 2014

The Voice contestant Jamie Johnson stars in a new promotional video for a youth charity.

The Streetcops Trust has worked with Training Them Live to create the video about its work.

It features Jamie, who has made it through to the battle rounds of the BBC talent show, playing a youth who gets into trouble with police but is helped by the trust.

Jamie, who volunteered to be in the video, was keen to stress that the plot line is entirely fictional.

He said: “I’d like to say I haven’t been in trouble with the police but think this is an important part of the video as it helps convey that fundamentally Streetcops is about funding organisations that divert people from that path.”

He added: “It was great working with Streetcops on their video. They’re a great local charity helping grass root level organisations in Medway and I’m a big supporter of theirs.”

The video features other local groups, such as Magic, Halling Youth Club and the Air Cadets, and is hoped it will raise awareness of how Streetcops can help other organisations in Medway.

The trust offers funding of up to £500 to youth projects. Visit www.streetcops.org.uk to find out more.

The video will be released today at 6pm on YouTube.
