Tigger was one of the lucky cats allowed to live in a residential care home. Few care homes allow elderly people to take their pets with them, causing heartache to both the owner and their pet. Sadly, many of these animals end up in rescue centres.
Tigger’s experience was slightly different. Knowing one of the residents was a bit of a cat lady, a staff member gave her Tigger to keep her company.
He soon became her much loved companion and lived happily in the lady’s room for six months until she passed away.
However, since then Tigger has taken to living in a cardboard box at the entrance to the care home.
Two of the health care assistants have supplied him with plenty of blankets and food but although they love fussing over the four-year-old, they feel Tigger is lonely and longing for a proper home.
Vicki Hanson, who works at the care home said: “Tigger is truly a lovely cat, very affectionate and loves to be stroked and fussed. He really deserves a loving home and I hope he finds one soon.”
Tigger is neutered, microchipped and up to date with his vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
If you can offer Tigger a home, contact Bobbie on 07808 625519.
Joanne and Joseph are mini lops, one of the most good-natured and loveable breed of rabbits you can have as pets.
Fosterer Lisa Inns said: “As we have had them neutered they ready to be homed as a pair. While they will require a great deal of care and understanding, the joy of owning these rabbits can be far greater than you had ever anticipated.
“Whilst mini-lops are a small breed, they should still be given a large hutch or enclosure for plenty of exercise.”
Anim-Mates is a volunteer-run animal rescue group based in Ash. All animals are cared for in the homes of fosterers until they are rehomed. All new homes are subject to vetting. Visit www.anim-mates.org.uk
