A thief who stole £8 of food from a shop in Rainham and later failed to show up at court, has been jailed.

Dean Hart admitted shoplifting and failing to surrender to custody when he appeared before magistrates in Medway.

The court heard how Hart, of no fixed address, stole the food from a shop in Parkwood Green, in November and failed to show up for his court appearance in December.

Magistrates jailed Hart for 21 days, fined him £100 and ordered he pay £85 costs.

A woman who caused actual bodily harm to another woman has been ordered to carry out 250 of unpaid work and has been ordered to pay her compensation.

Sarah Baker, 31, assaulted the woman in Sir Thomas Longley Road, Rochester, in July last year and had denied the allegation when she appeared before magistrates in Medway.

Baker, of Goudhurst Road, Gillingham, was found guilty of the office at trial at the same court and was ordered to carry out the unpaid work, pay £300 compensation and £330 costs.

A motorist has been banned from the road after trying to drive a van while more than three times the legal limit.

Andrew Collier, 34, pleaded guilty to attempted drink-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Medway.

The court heard how Collier, of The Everglades, Gillingham, attempted to drive the Ford Transit in Maidstone Road, Rochester.

When given a breath test he gave a reading of 110 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35.

Magistrates banned Collier from driving for 24 months and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £85 costs.

A dangerous driver has narrowly avoided jail after admitting a string of offences.

James Clark, 25, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop when required to do so by police and driving without insurance and a licence when he appeared before magistrates in Medway.

The bench heard how Clark, of Luton Road, Chatham, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Sovereign Boulevard, Gillingham, when he committed the offences.

Magistrates jailed Clark for six months but suspended the term for 12 months. He was also banned from driving for 18 month and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Clark was also fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

A motorist has been banned from the road after committed a string of driving offences.

Darrell Andreas, 35, pleaded guilty to drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence when she appeared before magistrates in Medway.

The court heard how, Andreas, of Jeffery Street, Gillingham, was caught driving a Ford Fiesta in Forge Lane, in the town when he committed the offences.

When given a breath test he gave a reading of 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35.

Magistrates banned Andreas from driving for 36 months and fined him £400 and ordered he pay £85 costs.
