Three charged after Gillingham homes targeted by burglars

Three people have been charged after homes in Gillingham were targeted by burglars.
Two properties, in Bredhurst Road and Herbert Road, are reported to have been burgled on the evening of Saturday September 26, with thieves taking items of jewellery from both addresses.
Following enquiries, three people from Basildon were arrested on suspicion of the offences the next day.
Edward Stokes, 36, of Alnwick Close; Wesley Maughan, 20, of Vaughan Williams Road; and a 17-year-old boy have since been charged by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad with two counts of burglary.
Stokes has additionally been charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
All three were remanded in custody to appear today at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
At the hearing Stokes was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on October 27, while the other two defendants were released on bail and will appear at the same court hearing.
