Queues on the A2 were tailing back three miles to the Medway Bridge due to a broken down crane.
One lane on the London-bound side of the major route was shut due to the incident, near to the Cobham turn-off.
The crane was blocking the first lane.
Traffic was slow from the Medway Bridge heading towards Cobham but had cleared by late morning.
