Firefighters cut a man from wreckage after a crash involving two vans and a car on the M2 this morning.
The collision at 9.15am led to motorists queuing on the coastbound carriageway near the motorway services at Gillingham.
The situation was compounded by the closure of the A249.
The accident has been cleared and traffic is moving normally.
An eye witness said several vehicles were involved, with the wreckage of one of the vans embedded in the central reservation.
Traffic was slowing on the London-bound carriageway as people looked at the collision, causing further delays.
The collision happened between Junction 4 for Gillingham and Junction 5 for Sittingbourne.
Police officers are currently at the scene alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance.
Police spokesman James Walker said: "At present, no serious injuries have been reported however a closure has been enforced to ensure public safety.
"Motorists are advised to expect delays and, where possible, consider using a different route."
