Burger King thug jailed for carrying 12-inch knife and biting police officer in Chatham

A man who was found with a 12-inch knife and bit a police officer has been jailed.
Kane Bolton, of Davenport Avenue, Gillingham, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting PC Matthew Noon and being in possession of a wooden handle kitchen knife at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday.
The 21-year-old was stopped by officers at Burger King in Chatham High Street on Saturday, June 22, after a member of the public contacted police having seen him with the blade.
Prosecutor Deborah Jones explained how Bolton became angry and un-cooperative when being detained.
She said: “He then shouted at PC Matthew Noon ‘I’ll bite your nose off’, before biting the officer on the arm, leaving a small graze.”
The court heard how Bolton continued to be disruptive when in custody - flooding his cell multiple times, ripping his clothes off and banging on the cell.
Derek Hayward, defending, claimed Bolton was possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol and this could be the reason for his actions.
He was sentenced to one month imprisonment for assaulting PC Noon and was initially given nine months for possessing a knife.
However, this was reduced to six months thanks to an early plea. The sentences will be served concurrently, so Bolton will serve a total of six months in prison.
He was also told to pay £50 compensation. When asked if he understood what had happened, Bolton replied: “I’ve been robbed of £50.”
He will begin payment 28 days after he’s released.
