A Second World War bomb has been discovered at Rochester station.
Trains were unable to stop while police dealt with the incident.
Southeastern tweeted to say: "Because of the police dealing with an unexploded World War Two bomb next to the railway at #Rochester we have been instructed to close the line altogether.
"This will affect trains between London, Faversham, Ramsgate and Dover via the Medway Towns in both directions."
The line has now opened but trains are not stopping at the station.
National Rail suggests it will return to normal at about 2pm.
Our reporter at the scene says a police cordon has been put around the forecourt and the Royal Logistics Corps Bomb Disposal has arrived at the scene and been sent to the back of the station.
James Walker, spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called to Rochester High Street at 11.08am on following the discovery of what is believed to be an unexploded Second World War device.

"Officers are at the scene and have set up a 100 metre cordon to ensure public safety.
"British Transport Police are also in attendance and have evacuated Rochester Train Station as it falls within the cordon area. The station remains closed."
People heading to London are advised to get a bus to Chatham and travel from there.
There are also buses taking passengers to Gillingham.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts from the Ministry of Defence have confirmed the device is not a threat to the public.
The station reopened at 1.15pm and the 100 metre cordon has been stood down.
