A group of travellers have set up home on Luton Recreation Ground in Chatham.
The group, thought to be about 10 caravans, turned up at the park in Capstone Road, yesterday
It is though the group arrived from a field in Friston Way Rochester, which they were earlier moved on from.
Witnesses who saw them arrive say one caravan got stuck as it went though the hight barrier and a wooden post, the witness who didn't want to be named, also said the high barrier had then removed so other caravans and vehicles could get onto the site.
Another witness said they saw some of the group using the play area as a loo.
The site is owned by Medway Council.
Perry Holmes, the council’s chief legal officer, said: "We are aware that a group of travellers have set up an illegal encampment in Capstone Road, Chatham.
"We will be following a civil legal process to move the group on."
A police spokesman confirmed officers were called to the scene at 7.15am.
"The matter is being dealt with by the landowner, as is the normal process for these matters," he added.
