A tumble drier has been destroyed and the shed it was kept in severely damaged after a fire broke out.
Smoke alarms alerted the residents of a house in Jefferson Drive, Gillingham to the blaze just after 6am.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames using a main jet, a high-pressure hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to drive smoke and fumes away.
The occupants of the property were waiting outside for fire crews to arrive and there are no reports of any injuries.
The cause is thought to be accidental.
Last night firefighters tackled flames that spread from a shed to a neighbouring conservatory in Chatham.
