Traffic is currently building through the Medway Tunnel due to a crash involving a lorry.
The incident happened on the A289 London-bound and is affecting the route from Maritime Way towards Anthonys Way and the Upnor roundabout.
According to traffic monitoring tool Inrix lane one of two was closed in the tunnel for emergency repairs but has since reopened.
Medway Council tweeted: "TRAFFIC ALERT: Medway Tunnel Lane 1 (West Bound) is CLOSED due to a lorry incident.
"Please find alternate routes or follow diversions where possible and we thank motorists for their cooperation and patience."
A single lane closure in the tunnel had only recently been removed but road works remain.
It follows a long-running improvement project which was originally scheduled to finish in February.
