Two hustings events will be held tonight for parliamentary hopefuls to try to win your votes.

For the Rochester and Strood constituency, the candidates will be going head to head in a debate at the University of Creative Arts, in Fort Pitt, Rochester.

Five parliamentary candidates have confirmed their attendance.

Liberal Democrat Graham Colley, Rochester East councillor Teresa Murray who represents Labour, Sonia Hyner for the Green Party, Steve Newton, who will stand in for Ukip candidate Roy Freshwater and Chris Spalding the independent candidate, will be battling it out.

In the past, the Rochester and Strood constituency has consistently been won by the Conservative Party, with its majority rising by almost 3,000 votes between 2015 and 2017. But the party’s candidate Kelly Tolhurst does not appear to be attending.

This event is free to attend but tickets will be required.

Doors open at 6pm, the event should run from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Over in Gillingham and Rainham ward, all known candidates have been invited and have confirmed their attendance for a hustings at St Mark’s Church, in Canterbury Street, Gillingham.

The audience has been asked to arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

The Rev Saju Muthalaly will compere the evening, with help from ministry intern Rob Byrne.

The free event should finish by 9pm.
