09:10, 04 January 2018
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and possessing a firearm after armed police descended on Brompton.
The pair, one from Gillingham and the other from Chatham, were held after firearms teams swooped on Flaxmans Court and cordoned-off Brompton High Street.
Officers say they were called to Flaxmans Court at about 1.25pm yesterday and found an injured man at an address.
Armed officers then blocked off access to Brompton High Street. Witnesses said armed police and at least three patrol cars and police van were in the area.
The injured man, who has not been named, was treated by paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.
He did not need to go to hospital for further treatment.
This morning Vicki Foster, spokesman for Kent Police, said: “A 26-year-old man from Gillingham and a 44-year-old man from Chatham were both arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and possessing a firearm without a certificate."
The pair were later released under investigation.
Responding to rumours of a shooting, she added: “Nobody reported being shot.”
