Two teenagers have today been charged with the murder of David Young in Gillingham.
Stuart Porter, 18, of Buttermere Close, Gillingham and a 17-year-old from Strood, who is too young to be named, were arrested after the incident on New Year's Day.
The pair were initially charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The charges were upgraded today.
Kent Police were called to Windmill Road, Gillingham, at about 2.50am after reports of a stabbing.
Father-of-two Mr Young, of Beatty Avenue, Gillingham, was stabbed in the thigh.
The 28-year-old builder, pictured right, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital where he later died.
Mr Young, who attended Robert Napier School, had been walking home with friends after a night out at the Casino Rooms, in Rochester, when the trouble started.
Porter and the teenager are due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on March 21.
