Man and woman taken to hospital after crash in Hoath Way in Gillingham near M2 roundabout

A man and a woman had to be taken to hospital after a two-car collision on Hoath Way, Gillingham, earlier today.
The pair had to be freed by firefighters from the same vehicle after the smash which happened at about 11.50am.
Firefighters from Medway were called out to help free the pair and used specialist cutting equipment to remove the roof from one vehicles to get them out.
It is understood police closed one carriageway close to the M2 roundabout near Hempstead, while the pair were being freed and officers were diverting traffic.
By about 1pm the pair had been cut out of the vehicle and were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital via ambulance.
It is not known at this stage how serious their injuries are.
A spokesman for police said: "Officers were away from the scene at around 1.40pm.”
