An alleged drink-driver will appear in court after a van crashed into railings, a lamp post and another vehicle in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Daniel King, 31, was initially taken to hospital after the smash near the Murco garage in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the road, near to its junction with Kitchener Avenue, at about 1am.
Street signs, a lamp post, railings and at least one car parked in the street were damaged during the smash.
The driver, who was not seriously injured, was taken to hospital by ambulance and fire crews made the crash scene safe.
Police said King, of St Peter Street, Rochester, was later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and has now been charged with the offence.
He has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 2.
