A singer who has recently recovered from a brain infection gave a belter of a performance on The Voice last night - but it was not quite enough for the judges.

Craig Bunch, 35, from Kingston Crescent in Chatham, gave a mighty rendition of With A Little Help From My Friends by the late Joe Cocker, but sadly it was a bit too much for some judges.

The dad-of-two, who works as a sales consultant at B&Q Maidstone, has recently recovered from a brain infection which caused him to lose both his short and long-term memory.

Commenting on his performance, Craig said: "Unforunately, I didn't get a chair turn. It was, of course, disappointing. We all go on there in hope that on of the celebrity coaches will turn for us.

"But it has certainly given me a new lease of life in my confidence to carry on singing."

The judges said that they enjoyed Craig's performance, but Tom Jones explained why he couldn't spin his chair.

He said: "You hammered it right from the beginning and there was nowhere to go after that.

"My only criticism would be to use more light and shade."

Despite failing to get to the next round, the wannabe vocal star said that he enjoyed the process.

He said: "From the start it was a roller coaster. In the rehearsals and auditions it was absolutely brilliant.

"The competition has given me a new lease and life and confidence to go on in my singing." - Craig Bunch

"I didn't actually think about my own nerves until I got out on stage and it finally hit me. It was very intense.

"The judges were absolutely brilliant. Ricky Wilson was lovely, Tom Jones it was great to meet him. I didn't make too much sense of what will.i.am said."

Over a year ago, Craig suffered substantial memory loss as a result of a brain infection. Fortunately, he has now fully recovered.

"Bit by bit I recovered my memory and my personality, but it was quite a traumatic time," he said.

"The competition has given me a new lease and life and confidence to go on in my singing."
