Group set up to launch search for Invicta Dynamos legend Andy Smith of Rainham

Fears are mounting for the welfare of ice hockey star and former captain of Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos, Andy Smith.

His club are appealing for volunteers to take part in a search of Ambley Wood, in Hoath Close off Hoath Way, Gillingham from 6pm this evening.

Mr Smith, 34, a family man from Rainham, was last seen on Friday morning.

Described as a "legend" by his team mates, he is the Dynamos' all-time highest scorer.

Andy is white, 5ft 7in and of medium build.

He is bald with short dark hair to the side and was last seen with stubble around his chin.

He was wearing a faded blue top with small white writing, along with blue baggy shorts with the Invicta Dynamo logo and white number 26.

He was also wearing beige work boots and a baseball cap with the words Invicta Mustangs.

Police spokesman Andy Saunders said: "Officers are growing increasingly concerned for Andy's welfare and are urging anyone who may have seen him to call 101 quoting reference 08-0570 ."
