Several arrests have been made across the county after police seized a number of weapons and drugs.

Search warrants carried out across Kent have led to the seizure of quantities of heroin, cash and a modified air weapon.

Properties in Dartford, Chatham, Maidstone and Tonbridge were targeted during early morning raids yesterday, as part of an ongoing crackdown on knife crime and associated offences including the supply of drugs.

In Ladywood Road, Dartford, officers recovered substances believed to be heroin and cannabis and arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with the supply of Class A drug.

Heroin and a modified air rifle were also seized from a home in Mitchell Avenue, Chatham, where a 41-year-old man was arrested for drugs and firearms offences.

Meanwhile, a search of a bedroom at an address in Heath Road, Crayford led to the discovery of more illegal substances. Here, a 48-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin.

In west Kent at least £5,000 in cash was recovered from properties in Red House Close, Tonbridge; Colts Hill, Five Oak Green and in Butcher’s Lane, Mereworth.

Three people were arrested in connection with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

The police are continuing to carry out checks in towns and busy areas in a bid to crack down on knife crime.

A large blade with a serrated edge was found by plain clothes patrols in Maidstone, after a 53-year-old man was stopped on a bicycle in Wheeler Street.

The knife was discovered concealed under the saddle. The man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and possessing a knife in a public place.

In Bluebell Hill, near Maidstone, a suspicious vehicle was stopped by officers and when searched a set of digital scales, four mobile phones and a large quantity of cash were seized.

A 23-year-old man from Maidstone remains in custody in connection with the supply of Class A drugs.

Detective Superintendent Pat Holmes of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "These latest arrests and searches were part of targeted day of action to further crackdown on the supply of drugs and those we suspect may be linked to the use or carrying of weapons.

"We remain absolutely committed and determined in our efforts to take robust and proactive action against people who choose to break the law and to ensure communities across Kent remain safe."
