Wet, Wet, Wet and The South will be appearing at Rochester Castle Concert series

A bit of Scotland is coming to Rochester this summer when eighties band, Wet, Wet, Wet perform on stage at Rochester Castle.

The chart topping band will be kicking of the Rochester Castle Concert series on Wednesday, July 12, and will be performing their back catalogue of songs including their three UK number ones.

The band, which was formed in 1982, were undoubtedly a musical phenomenon and are one of the most successful bands in British pop history.

The group, led by Marti Pellow, will be performing tracks such as, With A Little Help From My Friends, Goodnight Girl and Love Is All Around.

The Glasgow lads have made a huge impact with their music over the years and have sold in excess of 15 million singles and albums to date, featured in the UK official singles and album charts for over an immense 500 weeks, the band have played to more than four million people in dozens of countries around the world.

This year sees them celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut number one hit album Popped In Souled Out by releasing a five disk super deluxe edition that includes unreleased and rare material along with many extras.

The band will be performing tracks from their classic debut at Rochester Castle as well as their greatest hits from over the past three decades.

The group were named Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards and their hit, Love Is all Around, which was used in on the soundtrack to the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, topped the charts and spent 15 weeks at number one.

Wet, Wet, Wet, will be supported by The South.

When The Beautiful South split in 2007, some members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments and two years later, singers Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler, alongside life long members Damon Butcher Gaz Birtles and Tony Robinson, came out of retirement and formed the nine piece band, The South.

They will perform the classic songs including A Little Time, Perfect 10, Rotterdam and Don’t Marry Her.

Tickets for Wet, Wet, Wet and The South go on sale on Wednesday, 29 March at 10am.
